Using A Quill & An Inkpot

My Grandad gave me a Quill and an inkpot a while ago. Before that I had a Calligraphy set but I only had a fountain pen. I decided this weekend to take out the excercise book and get started. The book was quite complicated but I'm trying to read it.
I found it hard to write with the quill be the right angle for the ink to properly come out.
It got easier as I kept to it.

  1. Kia ora Catalina,
I love it when I read blogs and they remind me of something in my life. That's what we try to do with our writing - evoke memories in the reader.
I, too, have done calligraphy with a quill and ink pot. I started when I was about 13 years old and loved it. It was very difficult but I perservered and finally got the hang of it. I don't have my calligraphy set anymore. I have to use one of the pens from Paper Plus - it's a lot easier but not nearly as satisfying. Some times, the old ways are still the best. I think your grandfather gave you an incredible gift. Your calligraphy writing looks great.
